“You Make Beautiful Things”
As staff, we have been brainstorming how our church can continue to be a source of encouragement to you online. One way we have decided to do this is through the Song Lyrics Project. Each week we will post a song with an explanation of why it is meaningful to one of our church members, along with a link so you can go listen to it. Our first post is from Living Hope’s worship coordinator, Lena Blain.
“You Make Beautiful Things Out of the Dust”
Only just a few months ago the world looked dull and dusty due to the seasonal progression of winter. As I look around at my garden now I can see the trees budding and the flowers springing up from the ground. New life is being made all around us in a visible way. This song draws parallels between the new life springing up from the ground and our spiritual growth and development as followers of Jesus Christ. Even though we may lament the struggles we face such as pain, heartache, sickness, and loss, we can rest in the hope we have in Jesus Christ. James 1:2-3 tells us that “when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” Let us find hope in knowing that despite these circumstances, Christ continues to transform us into something beautiful.
